Vyakhyan – AI-Powered Conversational BI Platform

Some products are born from a single idea. Vyakhyan was born from two completely different problems — in two completely different domains — that led us to one powerful question:

 “What if BI could talk back?”

Where It All Began

We were approached by two tech companies servicing completely different businesses domains with very different needs:

1. A company operating in the Point-of-Sale (POS) Solutions sector, primarily serving multi-brand, multi-store retailers, requested the development of a platform featuring a comprehensive KPI dashboard for wholesalers, retailers, and traders. The platform was to provide detailed control, filters, and real-time comparisons across products, stores, and time periods.
2. A Software solutions company, primarily into developing customised software solutions, approached us to develop a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) based system for - contract management and contract evaluation. The requirement was to develop a platform that could evaluate large volumes of legal contracts and flag risks, obligations, and compliance gaps.

Two very different asks. One rooted in structured KPIs, the other in unstructured documents.

 Yet beneath both was the same truth: Decision-makers didn’t want data access — they wanted answers.

 That’s when the idea sparked: ❝ Why not build something that lets users simply ask a question, and get the data, analysis, and visual interpretation — all in one go? ❞

From Thought to PoC

We quickly stitched together a basic prototype. Using open-source LLMs and Excel/SQL connectors, we built a small conversational layer where users could type queries like:

"Compare store performance in Pune and Mumbai for Q1."

and receive a chart with narrative insights, instantly.

It wasn’t polished — but it was effective. It made people sit up.

Suddenly, they weren’t clicking filters. They were conversing with their business.

What Makes Vyakhyan Different?

From that early PoC, we built Vyakhyan as a platform with three non-negotiables:

• Conversational Intelligence: Users don’t need to know BI tools or SQL. They just ask — Vyakhyan fetches, analyses, visualizes, and explains.
• Domain Adaptability: Whether it's sales, supply chain, finance, or compliance — Vyakhyan adapts to the data model and the lingo.
• Private & Lightweight: Built on CPU-only local LLMs (using Ollama, LM Studio, etc.), Vyakhyan runs securely on-prem without sending data to the cloud.

From Use Case to GTM

Once pilot users across retail, manufacturing, and contract management validated the system, we evolved Vyakhyan into a plug-and-play platform:

• Excel and SQL connectors
• Natural language querying
• Visual storytelling with charts
• Contextual follow-up and memory
• RAG-enabled document analysis

We didn’t just want to make BI easier — we wanted to make it human.

Why the Name "Vyakhyan"?

In Sanskrit, Vyakhyan means “explanation” or “interpretation”, in other words it is an art of simplifying the complex — transforming intricate concepts into accessible knowledge.

That’s exactly what the product does: it listens to your question and explains what the data says — visually and conversationally.

Not just dashboards. Not just reports.

But real-time, human-like business dialogue.

The core principles of Vyakhyan:

Explanation: Vyakhyan demystifies complex datasets, offering simple, precise answers through natural language queries.

Elaboration: It allows users to dive deeper with follow-up questions, revealing hidden trends and interdependencies.

Analysis: Backed by powerful AI, it performs multilayered analyses—summarizing, comparing, forecasting—without needing manual data modelling.

Dialogue: Much like a lecture or discourse, Vyakhyan engages in interactive conversations, facilitating a seamless flow of insight and exploration.

Vyakhyan is now being rolled out across:

And we’re just getting started.

Our vision is to make Vyakhyan a zero-friction interface between humans and their data.

We’re continuously integrating with CRMs, ERPs, and IoT systems. Voice input, multi-language support, and on-device models are already on our roadmap.
